Because you say, ‘I am rich and have prospered; I need nothing,’ but do not realize that you are wretched (talaipōros | ταλαίπωρος | nom sg masc), miserable, poor, blind, and naked,

Wretched (talaipōros | ταλαίπωρος | nom sg masc) man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Come now, you rich people, weep and wail over the miseries (talaipōriais | ταλαιπωρίαις | dat pl fem) that are coming your way.

destruction and misery (talaipōria | ταλαιπωρία | nom sg fem) are in their paths;

Be miserable (talaipōrēsate | ταλαιπωρήσατε | aor act imperative 2 pl) and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into gloom.

On an appointed (taktē | τακτῇ | dat sg fem) day Herod put on his royal robes, sat down on the judgment seat, and delivered an oration to them.
