Although we could have made demands as apostles of Christ, we were gentle among you (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd), like a mother tenderly nursing her own children.

Neither did we seek praise from men, whether from you (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) or from others.

We had previously suffered and been shamefully treated in Philippi, as you know, but we had the courage in our God to declare to you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) the gospel of God in spite of great opposition.

For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) was not in vain.

For they themselves report regarding us what kind of reception we had among you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd), and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

The word of the Lord has echoed forth from you (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) faith in God has become known, so we have no need to say anything.

So you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) became an example for all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

And you (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you accepted the word in the midst of much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

because our gospel did not come to you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) with words only, but also with power — with the Holy Spirit and full conviction — as you know what kind of men we were among you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) for your (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) sakes.

We know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd),
