Notes

When μετά is followed by a word beginning with a vowel, the alpha drops out (μετ᾿). If the following word begins with a vowel and rough breathing, it becomes μεθ᾿. The object of μετά with the genitive will usually be a person or a personal concept. Another preposition (σύν) is used when the object is impersonal.
