Then Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor questioned him, saying, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg), “You say so.”

Jesus said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg) to him, “I tell you the truth, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

His master said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg) to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been trustworthy in a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’

So they answered Jesus, saying, “We do not know.” And he said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg) to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Jesus said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg) to him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

And when he answered, “From outsiders,” Jesus said (ephē | ἔφη | imperf act ind 3 sg) to him, “Then the sons are exempt.

Prompted by her mother, she (phēsin | φησίν | pres act ind 3 sg) said (phēsin | φησίν | pres act ind 3 sg), “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.”
