It is the same with lifeless things that produce sound (phōnēn | φωνήν | acc sg fem), whether flute or harp; if they do not make a difference between notes, how will what is being played on the flute or the harp be understood?
As Paul was saying these things in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice (phōnē | φωνῇ | dat sg fem), “You are out of your mind, Paul! Much learning is driving you insane!”
