The people stood by, watching. The rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ (christos | χριστός | nom sg masc) of God, the Chosen One!”
And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man trying to mislead our nation, opposing the payment of taxes to Caesar, and claiming himself to be Christ (christon | χριστόν | acc sg masc), a king.”
Also, demons came out from many, crying out and saying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ (christon | χριστόν | acc sg masc).
Since the people were filled with anticipation and all were questioning in their hearts about John (“Could he perhaps be the Messiah?”) (christos | χριστός | nom sg masc)
And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ (christon | χριστόν | acc sg masc).
