On my frequent journeys I have been exposed to dangers from rivers, dangers from bandits, dangers from my own people, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city (polei | πόλει | dat sg fem), dangers in the countryside, dangers at sea, dangers at the hands of false brothers;

Gaius, a host to me as well as to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city (poleōs | πόλεως | gen sg fem) treasurer greets you, as does our brother Quartus.

Sailing past it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near to which was the city (polis | πόλις | nom sg fem) Lasea.

And I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme; and since I was so vehemently angry at them, I pursued them even to foreign cities (poleis | πόλεις | acc pl fem).

So on the next day when Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp and entered the audience hall along with the commanding officers and the prominent men of the city (poleōs | πόλεως | gen sg fem), and when Festus had given the order, Paul was brought in.

and they did not find me arguing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues or in the city (polin | πόλιν | acc sg fem).

“I am a Jewish man, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city (polei | πόλει | dat sg fem) at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to the strictness of the ancestral law, being zealous for God just as you all are today.

But Paul replied, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city (poleōs | πόλεως | gen sg fem). I beg you, let me speak to the people.”

Then all the city (polis | πόλις | nom sg fem) was stirred up, and a mob of people quickly formed. They seized Paul and dragged him outside the temple, and immediately the gates were shut.

For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city (polei | πόλει | dat sg fem) with him, and they assumed that Paul had taken him into the temple.
