The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates was made of a single pearl. And the main street of the city (poleōs | πόλεως | gen sg fem) was pure gold, like transparent glass.
The foundations of the wall of the city (poleōs | πόλεως | gen sg fem) were adorned with every kind of precious stone: the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
The city (polis | πόλις | nom sg fem) was laid out as a square, its length the same as its width. He measured the city (polin | πόλιν | acc sg fem) with the measuring rod at twelve thousand stadia, its length, width, and height being equal.
And he carried me away in the spirit up onto a great, lofty mountain, and showed me the holy city (polin | πόλιν | acc sg fem) Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.
And I saw the holy city (polin | πόλιν | acc sg fem), the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.
And they marched up on the broad plain of the earth and encircled the camp of the saints and the beloved city (polin | πόλιν | acc sg fem), but fire came down from heaven and consumed them.
Then a mighty angel picked up a stone the size of a huge millstone and hurled it into the sea, saying, “With this kind of violence Babylon the great city (polis | πόλις | nom sg fem) will be thrown down, and never again will it be found!
