For otherwise would they not have ceased being offered (prospheromenai | προσφερόμεναι | pres pass ptcp nom pl fem), since the worshipers, once cleansed, would have no consciousness of sins?
For since the law is but a shadow of the good things to come and not the actual form of those realities, it can never perfect those who draw near by the same sacrifices which they offer (prospherousin | προσφέρουσιν | pres act ind 3 pl) continuously year after year.
so also Christ, after (prosenechtheis | προσενεχθείς | aor pass ptcp nom sg masc) having (prosenechtheis | προσενεχθείς | aor pass ptcp nom sg masc) been (prosenechtheis | προσενεχθείς | aor pass ptcp nom sg masc) offered (prosenechtheis | προσενεχθείς | aor pass ptcp nom sg masc) once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time to those who are eagerly awaiting him, without reference to sin but for salvation.
Nor was it to offer (prospherē | προσφέρῃ | pres act subj 3 sg) himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood not his own,
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered (prosēnenken | προσήνεγκεν | aor act ind 3 sg) himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to worship the living God!
This is an illustration pointing to the present time, during which the gifts and sacrifices being offered (prospherontai | προσφέρονται | pres pass ind 3 pl) cannot perfect the worshiper so far as his conscience is concerned,
however into the second room only the high priest entered, and that only once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offered (prospherei | προσφέρει | pres act ind 3 sg) for himself and for the sins committed unintentionally by the people.
So if he had been on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already those who offer (prospherontōn | προσφερόντων | pres act ptcp gen pl masc) the gifts prescribed by the law.
For every high priest is appointed to offer (prospherein | προσφέρειν | pres act inf ) both gifts and sacrifices; so it was necessary for this high priest also to have something to offer (prosenenkē | προσενέγκῃ | aor act subj 3 sg).
In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered (prosenenkas | προσενέγκας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) up (prosenenkas | προσενέγκας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) prayers and supplications, with loud crying and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his godly fear.
