Zacchaeus, as he stood there, said to the Lord, “Look, half of what I own, Lord, I will give to the poor (ptōchois | πτωχοῖς | dat pl masc), and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will repay fourfold.”
Upon hearing this, Jesus said to him, “One thing you still lack: sell all that you have and distribute the proceeds to the poor (ptōchois | πτωχοῖς | dat pl masc), and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
The poor (ptōchon | πτωχόν | acc sg masc) man (ptōchon | πτωχόν | acc sg masc) died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried,
So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house was angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in here the poor (ptōchous | πτωχούς | acc pl masc), the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’
Then he answered, them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor (ptōchoi | πτωχοί | nom pl masc) have good news brought to them.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor (ptōchois | πτωχοῖς | dat pl masc). He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send the oppressed away in liberty,
For you will always have the poor (ptōchous | πτωχούς | acc pl masc) with you, and whenever you want you can do something good for them, but you will not always have me.
