And they conscripted (angareuousin | ἀγγαρεύουσιν | pres act ind 3 pl) a certain passerby, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), as he was coming in from the country, to bear his cross.

As they were going out, they came across a man named Simon, from Cyrene. This man they conscripted (ēngareusan | ἠγγάρευσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) to carry the cross.

And whoever compels (angareusei | ἀγγαρεύσει | fut act ind 3 sg) you to go one mile, go with him two.

Now Hagar (Hagar | Ἁγάρ | nom sg fem) represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

This may be interpreted allegorically, for these women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to be slaves; she is Hagar (Hagar | Ἁγάρ | nom sg fem).
