And he called the crowd to him and said to them, “Hear (akouete | ἀκούετε | pres act imperative 2 pl) and understand:

Now when Jesus heard (akousas | ἀκούσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) about John, he left there by boat to a deserted place to be alone; but when the crowds heard (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) about it, they followed him on foot from the towns.

About that time Herod the tetrarch heard (ēkousen | ἤκουσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) the report about Jesus.

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear! (akouetō | ἀκουέτω | pres act imperative 3 sg)

As for the one who was sown on good soil, this is the one (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) who (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) hears (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) the message and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

As for the one who was sown among thorns, this is the one (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) who (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) hears (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) the message, but worldly anxiety and the deception of wealth choke the message and it becomes unfruitful.

As for the one who was sown on rocky places, this is the one (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) who (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) hears (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) the message and immediately receives it with joy;

When (akouontos | ἀκούοντος | pres act ptcp gen sg masc) anyone hears (akouontos | ἀκούοντος | pres act ptcp gen sg masc) the message of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away that which was sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.

“Hear (akousate | ἀκούσατε | aor act imperative 2 pl) then the parable of the sower:

I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see the things you are seeing but did not see them, and to hear (akousai | ἀκοῦσαι | aor act inf ) the things you are hearing (akouete | ἀκούετε | pres act ind 2 pl) but did (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) not hear (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) them.
