son, child (of either gender), descendant (in any generation); by extension: a term of endearment; one of a class or kind, for example, a son of the resurrection is one who participates in the resurrection. The Son of Man is an OT phrase usually meaning human being, that in the NT is used almost exclusively as a messianic title (see Da 7:13), emphasizing Jesus' humanity.
