a priest, one who performs sacrificial rites, Mt. 8:4; Lk. 1:5; Jn. 1:19

Hebrews 9:6	When these things had been prepared in this way, the priests (hiereis \| ἱερεῖς \| nom pl masc) used to enter regularly into the outer room to perform their ritual services;
