When John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowds (ochlous | ὄχλους | acc pl masc) about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to look at? A reed being shaken by the wind?
As Jesus approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out — the only son of his mother (she was a widow). A large crowd (ochlos | ὄχλος | nom sg masc) was with her.
When Jesus heard these things, he admired him. Turning to the crowd (ochlō | ὄχλῳ | dat sg masc) that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”
Then, coming down with them from the mountain, he took his stand on a level place. A large crowd (ochlos | ὄχλος | nom sg masc) of disciples was there along with a great number of people from all over Israel and Judea and from the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon.
And Levi made a great banquet for him in his house, and there was a great crowd (ochlos | ὄχλος | nom sg masc) of tax collectors and others who were reclining at table with them.
But not finding any way to bring him in on account of the crowd (ochlon | ὄχλον | acc sg masc), they went up on the roof and lowered him, along with the stretcher, through the tiles into the midst, in front of Jesus.
Then the word about him spread even more, and large crowds (ochloi | ὄχλοι | nom pl masc) would come together to hear him and to be healed of their diseases.
He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds (ochlous | ὄχλους | acc pl masc) from the boat.
