Fight the good fight of the faith. Seize hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and about which you confessed the good confession before many (pollōn | πολλῶν | gen pl masc) witnesses.
For a root of all kinds of evils is the love of money, by which some, by their craving, were led astray from the faith and have pierced themselves with many (pollais | πολλαῖς | dat pl fem) pains.
But those wishing to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many (pollas | πολλάς | acc pl fem) foolish and harmful passions that plunge the people into ruin and destruction.
For those who serve well are acquiring a good standing for themselves and great (pollēn | πολλήν | acc sg fem) confidence in faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
As for us, brothers, when we were separated from you for a short time — in person but not in heart — we were all the more eager, with intense (pollē | πολλῇ | dat sg fem) longing, to see you in person.
We had previously suffered and been shamefully treated in Philippi, as you know, but we had the courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of great (pollō | πολλῷ | dat sg masc) opposition.
And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you accepted the word in the midst of much (pollē | πολλῇ | dat sg fem) affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit.
because our gospel did not come to you with words only, but also with power — with the Holy Spirit and full (pollē | πολλῇ | dat sg fem) conviction — as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sakes.
