Then the devil took him into the holy city, placed him on the pinnacle (pterygion | πτερύγιον | acc sg neut) of the temple,

I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled, ‘The one who eats my bread has lifted up his heel (pternan | πτέρναν | acc sg fem) against me.’

Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election. For by doing these things you (ptaisēte | πταίσητε | aor act subj 2 pl) will (ptaisēte | πταίσητε | aor act subj 2 pl) never come to ruin (ptaisēte | πταίσητε | aor act subj 2 pl).

For we (ptaiomen | πταίομεν | pres act ind 1 pl) all stumble (ptaiomen | πταίομεν | pres act ind 1 pl) in many ways. If someone does (ptaiei | πταίει | pres act ind 3 sg) not stumble (ptaiei | πταίει | pres act ind 3 sg) in what he says, he is a mature individual, able to bridle his whole body as well.

For whoever keeps the entire law yet fails (ptaisē | πταίσῃ | aor act subj 3 sg) at a single point has become guilty of the law as a whole.

So I ask, did they stumble (eptaisan | ἔπταισαν | aor act ind 3 pl) so as to fall? By no means! But because of their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles so as to make Israel jealous.

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroying angel would not touch their firstborn (prōtotoka | πρωτότοκα | acc pl neut).
