As they led him away, they took hold of a certain Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the countryside (agrou | ἀγροῦ | gen sg masc), and put the cross on him to carry it behind Jesus.
“On that day the one who is on the housetop, and his belongings are in the house, must not go down to get them, and likewise the one who is in the field (agrō | ἀγρῷ | dat sg masc) must not turn back.
Which one of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, who, when he comes in from the field (agrou | ἀγροῦ | gen sg masc), will say to him, ‘Come here at once and recline at dinner’?
But one after another they all began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I bought a field (agron | ἀγρόν | acc sg masc), and I must go out to see it. I ask you, have me excused.’
If God so clothes the grass in the field (agrō | ἀγρῷ | dat sg masc), which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, you people of little faith!
Now the day began to wear away, so the twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside (agrous | ἀγρούς | acc pl masc) and secure lodging and get provisions, for we are in a desolate place here.”
