They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable and disobedient and worthless (adokimoi | ἀδόκιμοι | nom pl masc) for any good work.
But just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men are opposing the truth, men who have been corrupted in the mind, worthless (adokimoi | ἀδόκιμοι | nom pl masc) concerning the faith.
Now we pray to God that you may not do anything wrong, not that we would appear as having passed the test, but that you may do what is right even though we may appear as having failed (adokimoi | ἀδόκιμοι | nom pl masc).
Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? — unless, of course, you fail the test! (adokimoi | ἀδόκιμοι | nom pl masc)
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, so that having preached to others I myself should not be disqualified (adokimos | ἀδόκιμος | nom sg masc).
And as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a debased (adokimon | ἀδόκιμον | acc sg masc) mind, to do things that ought not to be done.
then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, but to keep the unrighteous (adikous | ἀδίκους | acc pl masc) under guard awaiting punishment on the day of judgment,
