But when you fast, anoint (aleipsai | ἄλειψαι | aor mid imperative 2 sg) your head with (aleipsai | ἄλειψαι | aor mid imperative 2 sg) oil (aleipsai | ἄλειψαι | aor mid imperative 2 sg) and wash your face,
Salt (halas | ἅλας | nom sg neut) is good, but if the salt (halas | ἅλας | nom sg neut) has become unsalty, with what will you make it savory? Have salt (hala | ἅλα | acc sg neut) in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
“You are the salt (halas | ἅλας | nom sg neut) of the earth, but if salt (halas | ἅλας | nom sg neut) has lost its taste, how will it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under foot by those who pass by.
When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Mute (alalon | ἄλαλον | voc sg neut) and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again!”
They were absolutely astonished, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf to hear and the mute (alalous | ἀλάλους | acc pl masc) to speak!”
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words (alalētois | ἀλαλήτοις | dat pl masc).
