This is an illustration pointing to the present time, during which the gifts and sacrifices being offered cannot perfect (teleiōsai | τελειῶσαι | aor act inf ) the worshiper so far as his conscience is concerned,

For the law appoints men as high priests who have weaknesses, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints the Son who (teteleiōmenon | τετελειωμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg masc) has (teteleiōmenon | τετελειωμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg masc) been (teteleiōmenon | τετελειωμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg masc) made (teteleiōmenon | τετελειωμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg masc) perfect (teteleiōmenon | τετελειωμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg masc) forever.

(for the law made (eteleiōsen | ἐτελείωσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) nothing perfect) (eteleiōsen | ἐτελείωσεν | aor act ind 3 sg); but the introduction of a better hope through which we draw near to God.

And once made perfect (teleiōtheis | τελειωθείς | aor pass ptcp nom sg masc), he became for all those who obey him the source of eternal salvation,

For it was appropriate that God, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should (teleiōsai | τελειῶσαι | aor act inf ) make (teleiōsai | τελειῶσαι | aor act inf ) the champion of their salvation perfect (teleiōsai | τελειῶσαι | aor act inf ) through suffering.

Not that I have already obtained all this or have (teteleiōmai | τετελείωμαι | perf pass ind 1 sg) already reached (teteleiōmai | τετελείωμαι | perf pass ind 1 sg) my goal, but I press on in order to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

But I make my life of no account as of any value to me, that I may finish (teleiōsai | τελειῶσαι | aor act inf ) my task and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the good news of the grace of God.

After this Jesus, knowing that all was now accomplished, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled (teleiōthē | τελειωθῇ | aor pass subj 3 sg), said, “I am thirsty.”

I in them and you in me, that they may be completely (teteleiōmenoi | τετελειωμένοι | perf pass ptcp nom pl masc) one, so that the world may know that you sent me, and that you love them even as you love me.

I glorified you on earth, having (teleiōsas | τελειώσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) completed (teleiōsas | τελειώσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) the task that you gave me to do;
