The Son of Man has come both eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax (telōnōn | τελωνῶν | gen pl masc) collectors and sinners!’
When all the people including the tax (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) collectors (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) (those who had been baptized by John) heard this, they declared God just;
And the Pharisees and their scribes were grumbling at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax (telōnōn | τελωνῶν | gen pl masc) collectors and sinners?”
And Levi made a great banquet for him in his house, and there was a great crowd of tax (telōnōn | τελωνῶν | gen pl masc) collectors and others who were reclining at table with them.
After this he went out and saw a tax (telōnēn | τελώνην | acc sg masc) collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. And he said to him, “Follow me.”
Tax (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) collectors (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) also came to be baptized and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”
And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax (telōnōn | τελωνῶν | gen pl masc) collectors, said to his disciples, his “Why is he eating with tax (telōnōn | τελωνῶν | gen pl masc) collectors and sinners?” is he eating
And as he reclined at table he in Levi’s house, Levi’s many tax (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, his for there were many who followed him.
For John came to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax (telōnai | τελῶναι | nom pl masc) collectors and prostitutes did believe. And even when you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.
