ἵστημι is intransitive in the second aorist (ἔστην) and perfect. "Intransitive" means it does not take a direct object. ἵστημι is transitive in the present, future, and first aorist. "Transitive" means it takes a direct object. This is the one μι verb that does not use a κ aorist. Notice the shift to the rough breathing in the perfect middle/passive.
