For there was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of land or houses sold (pōlountes | πωλοῦντες | pres act ptcp nom pl masc) them and brought the proceeds from what was sold
To those who (pōlousin | πωλοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) were (pōlousin | πωλοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) selling (pōlousin | πωλοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) doves he said, “Take those out of here! Do not make my Father’s house a marketplace!”
In the temple he found people selling (pōlountas | πωλοῦντας | pres act ptcp acc pl masc) cattle and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.
He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And the one who has no sword, let him sell (pōlēsatō | πωλησάτω | aor act imperative 3 sg) his cloak and buy one.
Upon hearing this, Jesus said to him, “One thing you still lack: sell (pōlēson | πώλησον | aor act imperative 2 sg) all that you have and distribute the proceeds to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling (epōloun | ἐπώλουν | imperf act ind 3 pl), they were planting, they were building;
Sell (pōlēsate | πωλήσατε | aor act imperative 2 pl) your possessions and give alms. Make for yourselves moneybags that do not wear out, a treasure unfailing in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
