All hail the power of Jesus' name,
let angels prostrate fall.
| James 3:17 | But the (hē | ἡ | nom sg fem) wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, free from prejudice and hypocrisy. |
| James 3:18 | And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those (tois | τοῖς | dat pl masc) who make peace. |
| James 4:1 | What accounts for the quarrels and disputes among you? Is it not this — your desires that (tōn | τῶν | gen pl fem) are at war in your members? |
| James 4:2 | You desire and do not have; you murder and envy and cannot obtain; you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. |
| James 4:3 | You ask and do not receive because you ask for the wrong reason, that you can spend it on your pleasures. |
| James 4:4 | You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) world is hostility toward (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) God? Therefore whoever desires to be a friend of the (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) world makes himself an enemy of (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) God. |
| James 4:5 | Or do you imagine that scripture has no meaning when it says, “God yearns jealously over the (to | τό | acc sg neut) spirit that he has placed in us”? |
| James 4:6 | But he gives greater grace. That is why scripture says, “God opposes the proud but he gives grace to the humble.” |
| James 4:7 | So submit yourselves to (tō | τῷ | dat sg masc) God. Resist the (tō | τῷ | dat sg masc) devil and he will flee from you. |
| James 4:8 | Draw near to (tō | τῷ | dat sg masc) God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. |
| James 4:9 | Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your (hē | ἡ | nom sg fem) joy into gloom. |
| James 4:11 | Do not speak against one another, my brothers. Whoever (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. |
| James 4:12 | There is only one who is the (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) lawgiver and judge — the (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) one who is able to save and to destroy; so who are you to be judging your (ton | τόν | acc sg masc) neighbor? |
| James 4:13 | Come now, you who (hoi | οἱ | voc pl masc) say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to some city and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” |
| James 4:14 | You have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are but a mist that (hē | ἡ | nom sg fem) appears for a brief moment and then disappears. |
| James 4:15 | Instead, you ought to say, “If the (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) Lord so decrees, then we will live and do this or that.” |
| James 4:16 | But as it is, you are making arrogant boasts; all such boasting is evil. |
| James 5:1 | Come now, you (hoi | οἱ | voc pl masc) rich people, weep and wail over the (tais | ταῖς | dat pl fem) miseries that (tais | ταῖς | dat pl fem) are coming your way. |
| James 5:2 | Your riches have rotted and your clothes are moth-eaten. |
| James 5:3 | Your gold and your (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) silver have rusted and their rust will be a witness against you, and it will consume your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure for the last days. |
| James 5:4 | Look, the (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) wages you have held back from the (tōn | τῶν | gen pl masc) workers who (tōn | τῶν | gen pl masc) mowed your fields are crying out against you, and the (hai | αἱ | nom pl fem) cries of the (tōn | τῶν | gen pl masc) harvesters have reached the (ta | τά | acc pl neut) ears of the Lord of Hosts. |
| James 5:5 | You have lived on the (tēs | τῆς | gen sg fem) earth in self-indulgence and luxury. You have fattened your hearts for a day of slaughter. |
| James 5:6 | You condemn the (ton | τόν | acc sg masc) innocent and put him to death; he does not resist you. |
| James 5:7 | Be patient, therefore, dear friends, until the (tēs | τῆς | gen sg fem) coming of the (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) Lord. Note how the (ho | ὁ | nom sg masc) farmer waits for the (ton | τόν | acc sg masc) precious harvest of the (tēs | τῆς | gen sg fem) earth, being patient for it until it receives the early and latter rains. |
| James 5:8 | You too must be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the (hē | ἡ | nom sg fem) coming of the (tou | τοῦ | gen sg masc) Lord is near. |
