body
A psychosomatic disorder is a physical disorder caused by the psychic/emotional processes.
Somatology is the study of the body.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill,
God's truth abideth still.
So my body will perish!
| Luke 24:23 | and not finding his body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut), they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive. |
| John 2:21 | But he was speaking about the temple of his body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut). |
| John 19:31 | Then, since it was the day of Preparation, so that the bodies (sōmata | σώματα | nom pl neut) would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and their bodies taken down. |
| John 19:38 | After this Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus (though a secret one due to his fear of the Jews) asked Pilate if he could remove the body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut) of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed the body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut). |
| John 19:40 | So they took the body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut) of Jesus and wrapped it in strips of linen with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish custom for burial. |
| John 20:12 | She saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and the other at the feet of the place where the body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) of Jesus had been lying. |
| Acts 9:40 | But Peter put them all outside, and falling to his knees he prayed; then turning toward the dead body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut), he said, “Tabitha, get up!” And she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up. |
| Romans 1:24 | Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that they dishonored their bodies (sōmata | σώματα | acc pl neut) among themselves. |
| Romans 4:19 | Not being weak in faith, he considered his own body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut) as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. |
| Romans 6:6 | We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that the body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) of sin would be rendered powerless, so that we would no longer be enslaved by sin; |
| Romans 6:12 | Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut) so that you obey its desires. |
| Romans 7:4 | So then, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut) of Christ that you might belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, so that we might bear fruit for God. |
| Romans 7:24 | Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut) of death? |
| Romans 8:10 | But if Christ is in you, although the body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. |
| Romans 8:11 | But if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies (sōmata | σώματα | acc pl neut) through his Spirit who lives in you. |
| Romans 8:13 | for if you live according to the flesh, you will certainly die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut), you will live. |
| Romans 8:23 | And not only this, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut). |
| Romans 12:1 | I appeal you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies (sōmata | σώματα | acc pl neut) as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God — this is a reasonable act of worship for you. |
| Romans 12:4 | For as in our one body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut) we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, |
| Romans 12:5 | so we who are many are one body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) in Christ, and individually members who belong to one another, |
| 1 Corinthians 5:3 | For though I am absent in body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut), I am present in spirit; and I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as though I were present. |
| 1 Corinthians 6:13 | “Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food” — and God will destroy both the one and the other. But the body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut); |
| 1 Corinthians 6:15 | Do you not know that your bodies (sōmata | σώματα | nom pl neut) are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! |
| 1 Corinthians 6:16 | Or do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute is one body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) with her? For it says, “The two will become one flesh.” |
| 1 Corinthians 6:18 | Flee sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut), but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut). |
