On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross,

Indeclinable. A crasis of καί and ἐγώ. A "crasis" is when a word is formed by combining two words. See the Appendix for a list of all forms of crasis in the New Testament.
