I fear
The English phobia derives from this root and is commonly used as a combining form.
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.
Some do not list φοβέομαι as a deponent, and yet the meaning is always active. In the passive it can mean "I am seized with fear," "I am caused to be fearful."
