For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man; for many times it had seized him and he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, yet he would break (diarrēssōn | διαρρήσσων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.
