For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they (hēttōntai | ἡττῶνται | pres pass ind 3 pl) are (hēttōntai | ἡττῶνται | pres pass ind 3 pl) again entangled in them and overcome (hēttōntai | ἡττῶνται | pres pass ind 3 pl), the last state has become for them worse than the first.
