Who was Jesus Looking At? (Mark 8:33)

Translators have to be careful with the nuances of the words they use. Did Jesus “notice” the other eleven disciples, or was be “looking” at them when he rebuked Peter? It creates an odd picture to not look at the person you are speaking to, and ὁράω can mean to “notice.”

Comments

Why are you saying that is the verb οραω? It is the verb ειδω. Two different dictionary entries. The former would be, as you say, to see or look at something. The latter is to perceive or behold something, which is not quite the same. Also, a typo in your video: The blue splash for the video says "Mark 9:33."
